Comments! Comments! Bridal Shops vs Designer Gown vs VIP Gown vs NORMAL Gown

Well I read many comments now online about how this bridal house and that bridal house is a big scam and they sell empty promises instead of actual package! Honestly I myself have signed up to one of the bridal house with the most negative comments! (Oops I just check online! Missed that earlier when i do an online research about bridal house! Ok! I ask Google about everything at times.. in which could be annoying to hubby..) Reading through all the comments, I believe that it all boils down to one thing!

NEGOTIATION SKILLS!

  • Didn't you girls, have friends that are already married??
  • Didn't you ask them about what would roughly be the package involved before you proceed to find a suitable bridal shop?
  • During the negotiation with the bridal shop! They do not point a gun and ask you to sign on with them! You are the customer! Do ask questions, and choose to see the things that they are offering before you sign on! VIP or Designer Gowns.... Do you not have friends that know about it? Or maybe Google would have been a good place to ask these questions before going out to inquire?
  • Didn't you walk around to actually find a handful before comparing the deals offer? Negotiate with them if you have a few in hands! Bend them because for BRIDAL HOUSE competitions are narrow and they cannot offer too exquisite over the top price if their targeted customer is general public!
  • This is what happened when you go for the PRICE of BRIDAL FAIR instead of really looking for it!
  • Buy a book MYR20 - Signature wedding! Inside will have sets of questions and tables that they prepare to let you eventually ask smart questions and do comparisons!
  • Set in your mind what you wanted and go ahead in holding on to your decisions and do not let people sway you from it.

And in this world today! Where scams and empty promises is inevitable, therefore remember

SEEING IS BELIEVING

Tell them you are interested but will therefore come back to have a look at the gowns! BRIDAL SHOPS AND GOWNS has always been an issue since I was 15! Heard that from a neighbor back then! This is 10 years later and yet brides-to-be are still complaining about being booked on a empty-promises-no-designer-gowns contract? Want a real designer gown? Sign a real designer gowns deal then!

What A DAY!

What a day... photo-shooting is now officially postpone. What a disappointment!!??!!!
Everything was ok when we woke up!
  • Bright clear weather - CHECKED
  • Facial - DONE
  • Nu-bra - Bought! MYR 130 ok!
  • Hair - All cut! Superstar sweep!
  • Manicure - All pretty & pink

  • All my babies - in bow ties!

  • My hubby - Good looking as ever!
  • Mood - Nervous but happy
  • OVERALL POINTS - PERFECT!

We slept early yesterday! And we were all so bright and pretty today! It was nerve wrecking a little but then we arrived on time, way before the bridal shop was opened! We were waiting outside admiring someone's Porsche Panamera and my nervousness somehow slowly disappeared as the shop opens, I was ushered in to try on my altered gowns and it was aww... so pretty... All of them were! Honestly...

Then make-up time was here and then the mishap happened! The make-up room upstairs the bridal shop was smoky at first when we arrived, but then it seems like not a big deal, therefore the make-up commenced! We were in the middle of doing my eyes when the smell grew worst! We found out that the whole floor was covered with white smoke and we were asked to stop our activities as the BOMBA came to check! For the safety of everyone, we have to reschedule our shooting and thus we will only be entertained in the next two weeks! Sad! Even the sky is still clear as we began our journey home just now and to cheer me up! I am going to chunk on some STEAK that hubby will bring me to eat later!

Gown Choosing - DONE!

Gown choosing done! In fact yesterday! Eventhough I talked smack and tried to be confident, yet the smack talk doesnt calm me! When the clock ticked away and the time drew near to 2pm, I was as nervous as a.... (whatever the idiom is). Glad that my sis was around to make silly jokes and cool things down. As I was getting ready, realized that the nu-bra wasn't actually that easy to put on! Reading the instruction doesn't really helps but i managed to struggle my way through. Put on my make-up in the midst of sweat overload proved another challenge! So everything didn't went preliminary well.

We managed to reach the bridal shop on time and thus the ordeal began!
First round, outdoor white gown x 1 ;
Second round, outdoor dinner gown x 1 ;
Third round, indoor white gown x 2 ;
Last round, indoor dinner gown x 2

Like I said before, all brides somehow belongs to categories size 2 and I am somewhere like 4 or 5 (I am not 6 not yet a 4!) So there you go! Two hours of yes the gown can be expended or no this is the maximum size! Its sure a downer trying to squeeze yourself into one of the gown that you would think is beautiful and it makes you feel so not ready for all this! After 2 hours of struggling and trying, the battle is finally over, Yeah! I survived all 4 rounds of gowns choosing that gets all 3 Yes to each of the gown! One Yes from my hubby, Another from my sis and of course the final YES is definitely coming from MYSELF! And not to mentioned a little struggle with my Nu-Bra mishaps (it keeps falling off!) Anyway we human are born with the ability to adapt irregardless how difficult the situation might seems to be, so at the end, I walk out of the bridal shop with a smile on my face and the satisfaction in my heart knowing that I really like my selections of gowns. And with the assurance that no matter how I look like my hubby will still love me for who I am and my sister will always stick up to me in every situation! I couldn't ask for more in this LIFE!

Or maybe one thing I would ask! God! Please make this Friday photo session smooth, good weather, the photos will capture our most pretty moments (all 60 of them) and everything will be good! Now there is a lot of things to ask..... I guess..... Amen!

Weddings Nowadays Are So Overrated!

As years unfold, decades past. I felt that wedding nowadays are getting outrageously over-rated! With the use of social media nowadays, people make tonnes of money out of weddings. Because it has become a competition among friends to be the best, to be the most special, to be the most extra-ordinary, to be the most luxurious, to be the most grand that it loses the meaning why two person should get married in the first place!

It has been a stereotypical thing that every couple should have their wedding pictures taken in the most grandest setting, some flown out of the country just to have their wedding pictures taken in some overseas locations just to tell people that, yeah! I am extra! Never thinking that many couples 5 years down the road will tell you, these pictures are eventually useless and the big bulky albums are now a white elephant in their premises! Yet what we see is not the future, IT IS NOW! What are we going to tell our friends! Because its been expected of every couple! Irregardless if you have money or not! It is a must! Try that for instant the first moment that you announce that you are getting married people do not say congratulations firsthand, instead the question that will come out right after is "When are you taking your wedding pictures?"

And it is somewhat Hollywood! That every bride should look size 2! What if those who doesn't? Too bad then.. Face the wrath! Now you are telling me why am I so pressured! I am going to be swept into the "culture" - have my pictures taken on Friday and I am nowhere near 2! More to like a 5 (If there is any!) This is going to be bad and I am going to ask the photographer to take my pictures from my good side (Just like Mariah Carey!)

Then there was the reception! Even ROM nowadays, people are willing to pay freaking MYR500 just to get the registrar to come out and officiate their wedding like some kind of CHRISTIAN wedding, coz it looks cultured! Like somewhat Beyonce - Jay-Z! Its really bemusing to be caught in the who is better, who is more expensive, who is slimmer wedding culture!

For me?!!? Easier said then done! I am just going to enjoy myself and let people say "Why the bride is so fat" All I am going to answer is "WHY YOU CARE??!!??"

Fingers cross... Kudos! I love you hubby!

Gowns Fitting Day - Finally Here!

Tomorrow is the day!

Yeah! I am nervous and I do not know why, thought I should be more confident in it. I should tell myself that I have done my best in everything I could to usher in this day
1) Thin up and look right - DONE!
2) Corset - DONE!
3) Facial - DONE!
4) Hair - DONE!

And the list go on! But yet deep in my heart I felt so unprepared, despite hubby continuously support and encouragement! Guess I just have to cross my fingers and hope that everything will turn out fine! With the support of my little sister and my loving hubby, I believe that everything will be ok! I will be able to fit those beautiful gowns and the perfect one will be waiting for me to just slipped right in! "Mind over matter" Gosh! This is difficult! At least this part at the moment, as this Friday draws near! All I have to prepare is........ Pose and Smile..... Gosh! This is much more difficult!

Then There Is The Wedding Bag

Wedding Bag?

That is something we came up with as we were buying our blue notebook! Its funny how life turns out to be! We have always been having the bag for some time, matter of fact we carry our clothes for a vacation in it some time ago to Penang! We even carry our Princeton, Hamilton & Clayton in it previously. Suddenly now it became "THE WEDDING BAG".

Basically what is it for?
Well it contains everything that we would one day (19-02-2012) compile, organized and record. We sort of just find a place to chuck in all the pamplets, receipts & call-cards that we received while in and about inquiring from wedding vendors!

Usefulness?
Yes, very! (For us at least) If you need to find something (takes a little time though!) to do with the wedding, just go to the wedding bag! One stop center!

Recommendation for a wedding bag?
Well up to individuals! Like I say for people like ourselves who is not so "environmental friendly" as in still uses psychical notebook and printing out emails then it is ok! Well for gadgets crazy couples, maybe too! After all you need a bag to store your stuff, iPad doesnt come with scan your pamphlets/documents function just yet!

What will happened to Wedding Bag once the reception is finished?
Still it will be a Wedding Bag! This time more organize (hopefully! fingers cross) bag! All the receipts and call cards and what nots will all be in place and we will certainly store everything and when we need it for reference we will just pull out the bag and have a look! At that time it is down the memory lane bag. Maybe it will be converted back to a normal bag to carry our clothes or even carrying Princeton, Hamilton, Clayton and now additional Dayton too! Our Care-bears a.k.a. sons.

Ready! Set! Start!

The planning starts here, remembering the first thing we did after talking about what will be "our perfect wedding".

Everybody will be getting all busy finding the right bridal shop for the perfect photos, getting slimmer for that perfect photo sessions, choosing the right bridal gown, source for restaurant to hold their dinner and etc. It will be funny to know what we both did as the first step prior to our planning.
So Ready! Set! Start! What we did as our first step?

"We went to shop for our now Blue Notebook & Bridal Planning Magazine - Signatures Wedding"

Yeah! We want to make it as fun as possible, and to me a chic looking notebook is always nice to have, considering iPad and the gadgets are over-rated! So getting all equipped is important. So we start our journey along with dreams, expectations, fun-loving, humor and of course our newly bought Blue Notebook!

Its The Beginning

Our Day: 18-Feb-2012

The date has been announced! The day we will start our journey officially as man and wife! Why we choose this date many has ask me... Well nothing in particular, its something that we pull out of our mind simultaneously! Both ourselves and our parents were very modern people, so we do not do traditional at all, much to people amazement and we even drew some "wow"!

But the preparation towards that day started way back. Some people choose to be romantic, some choose to be elegant, some choose to be luxuries, some choose to be over-showy BUT we choose to be US!

Should have started this blog long time ago, when we first started preparation but just like many couples, we got caught up with the preliminary preparations of things (especially everywhere that we go people start telling us : "You are way behind time")

We do not want others to influence how we want the things to be done, so we bought our first book and draft out what are the rough ideas that we wanted and what are the pictures that we have of that particular day! It was fun throwing ideas, out of our imaginations not knowing how to actually go about sourcing for the things, but we always have in mind, motto that hubby always say :
"We will do what we want as much as we can to perfection but
we cannot things to turn out 100% perfect!"

Nuff said! :)
