X-Factor Fever

Never a fan of reality tv shows! Maybe back in college time I was very excited about Survivor 1 - Sabah or maybe America Next Top Model Season 1, or maybe American Idol 1 (I watched it half way and didnt follow through Kelly Clarkson's crowning!) That's about it! In fact I never had affiliation towards TV! Everytime someone turns on the TV, I will be like oh well! I am going into the room! So practically the 50 inch at home here is just a redundant mighty piece of furniture until hubby turns it on! I don't watch every show but just two, Private Practice and Bones and now X-Factor USA 2. (Makes 3)

Initially when my auntie got so excited over X-Factor USA 1, I couldn't understand it! Now I do, maybe a little! Still alright it was quite addictive! Today is the crowning of X-Factor Champion and I am glad the family man WON! Here is what I think about each Top 13 contestants.

13. Jason Brock (Mentor: L.A. Reid)
Well sorry mate! I do not get it when L.A. Reid choose to keep him over Travie Mccoy lookalike David Correy. I think David is a better choice and his slow rendition of Kelly Clarkson's - Since you been gone was nicely done! Anyway it doesn't matter coz Jason doesn't last long enough and was send home! Honestly I expected this elimination, oh well no need to explain! America sees it the same way as me!

12. Lyric 145 (Mentor: Simon Cowell)
This group being eliminated came as a shocking result for me and hubby! We both find this group really entertaining! In fact I was rooting that they will stay around for a bit longer as there are far more worst contestants than them! One thing I find annoying is that, they kept changing their songs at last minutes! It was so the week before and then the same again the week they got eliminated! But none-the-less they were really of entertainment value and I would love to see them come back or maybe sign on to an independent record! They were really creative with their song especially the one where they do a crossover between Katy Perry's E.T. & Queen's We will Rock You

11. Jennel Garcia (Mentor: Demi Lovato)
Well I never find this one impressive! Like Simon repeated gazillion times! This is a 5 Million dollar competition! For me is not worth 5 million! Another thing that I find annoying about Jennel is that although she said she is a dance teacher?! But her dancing on stage just doesn't sit with me too well! Demi shouldn't approve of her prancing around the stage doing "Club Dirty Dancing" all the time! She kept doing that "twirl her hips, put her hands up and shake her hair crazy" dance routine on every single song! But one credit that I would like to give to her is indeed she has one of the best singing vocals around!!

10. Arin Ray (Mentor: Britney Spears)
This guy is the returning act from previous session! I like his smooth voice, he has got the style and he has got the voice BUT sorry to say he lost his focus! He forgotten what he is here for! His goal shifted from the 5 million prize to one of Fifth Harmony Girl Group's member! Plus I believe that Britney did a very lousy job with all her contestants! She only focuses on one maybe 2 of her contestants and letting the rest go to waste! Plus she tends to "over-furnish" her acts with way too many decorative backgrounds from dancers to hanging ropes to rise high and low stages! Which I find it a bit distracting! Thus costing her one of her good contestant Arin Ray! This young man reminds me of Usher! But if he is going to join for the 3rd time, he better keep his focus on the prize and not something else! (One example would be: Theme of the week : Giving Thanks! And he choose Hero by Enrique Iglesias, he said it was dedicated to his brother but yet its obvious he is de-railed! But then what is the mentor doing!!!)

9. Beatrice Miller (Mentor: Britney Spears)
Well I would blame her initial elimination reason to Britney Spears! Britney did not put a full heart into nurturing this really talented girl! She neglected her talents in fact and failed to dress her for the occasion. Instead of choosing a worthy song for her, she was made to sing songs that is obviously not suitable for her husky voice! Her mentor chose "man/guy" songs like Iris by Goo Goo Dolls, Chasing Cars - Snow Patrol for her to attempt! (Lousy choice) and not to say her costumes! Well why do you let a 13 years old wear frumpy clothes and colorful hats while performing! It is a far cry from the way Britney dress and train Carly! (That is another story ya!) Her voice is very special and she has this very adorable look! I like her a lot BUT by the end of the sing-off when she is at the bottom two along with Cece Frey (The one character that I dislike!) I am ready to send her off and retain Cece! When she performed her "Final Showdown" song "White Flag" (So obvious! She given up) she is sobbing and perform without hope and fire! If she wants it she has got to fight for it but she didn't and for a moment there i admire Cece (always the bottom dweller) for her fire to continue fighting even though this is the million times she is at that position!

8. Paige Thomas (Mentor: Demi Lovato)
I love this girl. She very strong and indeed she has the power in her vocal! I hate to see her eliminated as she is the other act that I am rooting for other than Lyric 145! I was very disappointed to see her go although I know she is good but NOT good enough! Sadly! I was relieved when she was safe when she goes against Jennel but like I said that wasn't enough to keep her in the competition! A competition where 5 million is at stake! A lot of people were saying she is Rihanna wannabe! But I do not care because through the entire competition she has shown her determination to win and she kept on fighting till the end! I wish her well in everything that she is doing now!

7. Vino Alan (Mentor: L.A. Reid)
This is yet another shocking elimination. One that I was disappointed to see go! Because he has kept a constant run at number 3 all this while! But then his tantrum throwing and complacency has booted him home! The moment he got number 3 for the third time he remarked "Number 3 is very good indeed! I think America feel what I am doing!" At this point of competition complacency kills (ok in any point in life as well! We gotta keep on fighting to progress) L.A. Reid rebutted him, in which I agree "There is only one place! Number 1, there is no place for Number 3! Number 3 is not Number 1! You gotta progress, gotta do something that is different! I can see L.A. genuinely wanted all his acts to win and that resorted him to do a drastic move to pick songs like You've lost that lovin' feeling, a very far cry from Vino excellent performance of previous week "God Bless USA!" With that song I can almost see him winning but "Lost that lovin' feeling" really made your contestant "lost" L.A! (Kudos to him for his effort even though he was at a tantrum throwing mood when he was told he is going to mentor the over 25s! He was professional! - In fact I didn't know he is such a big shot because he has always appear humble in the show)

6. Cece Frey (Mentor: Demi Lovato)
From the last of the young adults! I am waiting for her to be eliminated! Been hoping everyday! She is still around till now is not because she can sing but because she has this sobby story to tell! Everybody has been through hard times but she complaining again and again about how she hated going back to work at the post office is getting very boring! I didnt get her leopard spots painting although I think similar ones on Jadzia Dax (Star Trek - Deep Space Nine) looked very sexy! But then for Cece it is week after week of poor performance and criticism from the judges and yet she stayed around! For one time I had to agree with Britney when she remarked toward Cece's performance by saying "I just don't get it!!" As she continued to stay in the competition she became cockier! I already hated her but she makes me hate her more by saying this when the judges criticized her performance as usual by saying "If they are not going to write that cheque someone will!" and when L.A. Reid told her that her performance wasn't worth 5 million she replied "But I am still here!" so bye bye and you are lucky you stayed till number 6! Actually to be honest I don't get her "Eye of the Tiger"performance, trying so hard to be Ke$ha and also her almost out of tune worst than karaoke session "All by myself" and her poorly performed out of all notes and failed to hit the ending high note of "Wind beneath my wings" she covered her poor performance by simply shedding tears! Well played but not good enough! As it is time to go when we watched for the final time she slaughtered Katy's Part of Me! Ouuch! I was happy to see her go!

5. Diamond White (Mentor: Britney Spears)
Diamond is such a talent! She reminded me of the late Whitney Houston! But her mentor wasted her talent, utterly destroying her by leading her the wrong direction! That is not counting Britney lopsided decision to eliminate her and keep Arin Ray instead! Later Simon Cowell step in and bring Diamond back because they decided it was a mistake to eliminate Diamond! So ever since then Britney has never invested into Diamond! The songs that Britney picked for Diamond are songs from huge octaves divas! I wonder Britney herself could carry any of those tunes! (Shame!) Time and again Diamond was put to challenge from songs like I have nothing by Whitney Houston to Halo by Beyonce to Because you loved me - Celine Dion to I wanna Dance with somebody - Whitney again! (Now you see what I am saying) Diamond has shown her ability to sing and live up to these legendary tunes and I love the way everytime she goes on stage, she hit those notes wonderfully! I believe that she could stay longer or maybe win the show if her mentor put a little bit more effort on this one instead of heavily investing on her number 2!

4. Emblem 3 (Mentor: Simon Cowell)
Maybe America finally saw that they do not need another One Direction! They are at number 4 thanks to so many screaming teens out there! Usually they scream louder than what was being performed by the boys blinded them to their votes! Well we all are young once and my time was the Backstreet Boys (Well indeed they are talented! Ha! Ha! See younger days!) This is the same as that! This one I have to agree with Demi, they are becoming so predictable, they came out, stand together and sing a verse, then start to come forward and jump around the stage, they rap and then they end the song! Actually they are ok but vocally still a little bit short of breath! As I watched them performed "No one - Alicia Keys", "Secrets - One Republic", "I am a Believer - Monkees", "Just the way you are - Bruno Mars" and poorly singed "Hey Jude - Beatles" all the songs are lack of emotions although I would say they are interesting to watch but still not good enough and Simon was rooting for them to win this or at least go on to the final!

3. Fifth Harmony (Mentor: Simon Cowell) - Previously known as Lylas then 1432
Indeed like their song "Anything Could Happen" they stayed on till the final! Well to be honest I find their song "Anything Could Happen" very entertaining! I love it! I love the song after I heard Fifth Harmony performed it! In fact it is better than the original and everybody knows I am sucker for pinkish stuff and beautiful fairytale dreams and their backdrop had me loving it! I love how they hit the final high note for the song Anything! It is impressive! But as this is a race to find someone with the talent, only one song that impressed doesn't do the work! Although these girls are just adorable and very lovely but its not enough to win them the grand price. In fact only 2 out of 5 girls could sing and could really carry tunes well. Overall they were really nice to have around although I cannot remember half of what they sang because it didn't "WOW" me!

2. Carly Rose Sonenclar (Mentor: Britney Spears)
This girl could sing! And she could sing VERY WELL! That is thanks to Britney for putting all her effort into this act alone! At least all the other teens in the category that sacrificed has brought Carly to this stage! We knew the moment Britney saw her she exclaimed "I saw myself in you when I first started!" So obvious and from then on Britney has invested in her entirely, from songs choice to costumes to choreography but I am well to say that Carly has not disappoint in any of her performances. But there is one thing that I think she need to work on, her facial expression at times can be a little over-done when singing! So maybe that is required for hitting big notes?!? (I don't know because I am just a humble karaoke singer! Maybe I should try that, it might make me hit higher notes! Ha! Ha!) But overall I enjoy how she was always on top of her game interchanging number 1 with the X-factor winner! The song that I find most entertaining is "My heart will go on - Celine Dion" & "Over the Rainbow" that got her the number one spot on week 4 & 5 of the competition! This girl has definitely make an impression in the music industry and I believe her life can never be normal again as she has proven herself to be far more talented than Britney herself!

1. Tate Stevens (Winner) (Mentor: L.A.Reid)
I am glad to see him win! Like hubby always said "America needs someone like Tate! A man committed to his marriage and love his family in the entertainment industry!" We were praying that he will win this competition and I am happy to see him crown winner! I am never a fan of country music! Never Ever! Accept for Carrie Underwood, other than that nope! Don't know any country song! I used to think country music is boring! But then everytime Tate took the X-Factor Stage I will be very entertained and I will be very attentive towards the songs he sang. He became better and better throughout the competition. His final few weeks' performances were the best! I personally like Bonfire & Fall & yeah also Anything Goes! Most importantly he dedicates all his songs to his wife, that is really  a good man! And he deserved to win this as his reason to win is to give his family a good life! Kudos man! And praying for your many success! Buy a country album from Tate?! Maybe my hubby will! As he is already showing great support for him!

Spaghetti Seafood Aglio Olio

Been hibernating from this blog for some time. I am still here but been a bit busy! (What's so busy?!? You are a stay home wife! Don't life gets boring?! - I still get this but lesser!) Well instead of sitting around and doing nothing at all, I have been trying a lot of new recipes and this is one of them. Many a times I forgotten to take a picture until we are digging half way through the dish! So last week I made sure that I remind myself to take a pic before chomping down.

This is my latest success - Spaghetti Seafood Aglio Olio. This is just so simple to do and you do not have to sweat figuring how it is done. Good for Simple Christmas Dinner.. (Note: Recipe is for 2 person)

Half packet of Spaghetti
Handful of Parmesan Cheese
1 Tablespoon of Butter
8 Pieces Prawn - Peel and de-vein
1 Piece White Squid - Clean and cut into small cubes
8 Pieces Mussel - Scrub the shell & soak in warm water to remove sand and other residues
10 Cherry Tomatoes - Half them
10 Pieces of White Tuscon Mushroom
Garlic
Olive Oil
Red Pepper Flakes
Balsamic Vinegar
Garlic Powder
Oregano
Salt & Sugar for taste

Directions:

  1. Cook Spaghetti for 15 minutes add in some salt for taste (Through my experience that is the best time for bouncy crispy spaghetti any more than that time, it will be soggy and too soft any lesser will be too raw)
  2. Take out spaghetti from hot water and straight into normal water and set aside on colander
  3. Heat up pan with butter and olive oil, put in garlic and stir until translucent, put in white squid, prawn, mussel and mushroom stir for 1 minute
  4. After prawn shows sign of done (the color will turn reddish and the tail curl up) put in cherry tomatoes and stir fry for another 30 seconds
  5. Mix in 3 tablespoon of balsamic vinegar, some water, salt & sugar and "fine tune" the taste according to your taste
  6. Pour in spaghetti and toss, drizzle some olive oil and serve on plate
  7. Sprinkle onto each plates individually according to preference - garlic powder, oregano and red pepper flakes.
  8. Top of with yummy Parmesan cheese and we have really yummy spaghetti ;)

See! Its easy peasy! No sweat at all recipe ;) OoO Yummy! Enjoyzzzz

What does't kills you ONLY makes you STRONGER

This might be some song Kelly Clarkson make famous BUT these famous words does really has it punch to it! It really proven true..... I do not know about others BUT for me it is true! Life has been a learning experience and I truly felt that what we are is not define by the moments of hardship we been through but by how we take those moment and make our life better!

Hubby and I both have been through hardships in life. For him, he grew up from a family who has not much, he doesn't have much toys and all the luxuries that I enjoyed when I was younger. I used to share with him about what I have and how this toys were played and how this stationery were the coolest in school at that time & his answer is always the same "I know they are the coolest at that time BUT my parents couldn't afford them when I was younger! I love to have them like other classmates and schoolmates but we just couldn't" That is the past for a man who has brought me around the world and back! Brought me luxury items and keep me grounded! ;)

For myself when my parents went their separate ways, mommy, sister and I were left to fend for our lives and tomorrow seems to be like a storm that hits us and everything were so unclear. Remember those days when we would have to worry when tuition fee is due, what should we have for tomorrow as breakfast, lunch and dinner? We will survived, how are we going to? That was my past! Just like the song goes "That was then! This is my now!" Looking back - Each of those moments are the ones that mold me, shaped me to be the person I am today! Did I ever dream of today? NO! At that moment, a life like now is just a dream BUT keep holding on and never let go!

What I wanted to say is the past doesn't define us, how we made of it and add to our life is the one that defines us! Don't ever give up! Don't hate those moments, if we did not go through those moment of molding how will the Lord knows that we are big enough to hold his blessing when He pours it out upon us?

One person that I would like to thank is my Lord Jesus! He is the one that has brought me to this moment! If I don't have Him, I wouldn't have the things I have today! Never! But in the meantime, Marry a good husband, a Lord destined husband... It helps a lot to make life better ;) Trust me!
So at the end of the day "What doesn't kills you only makes you stronger! And it is true!"

Game Review : Farmville 2

If you are looking for a really interesting game to play, look no further! Trust me this is a really nice farming game! Alright don't put it off because its a farming game and the name Farmville brings back nightmare of endless clicking! Well I thought the same too until I give Farmville 2 a try!

I was skeptical when I saw the word Farmville initially because Farmville the first series is a nightmare of poor graphic and endless clicking and non-achievable quests! Well I was delighted when I gave Farmville 2 a try! It was really cute and I fell in love with the cute animals in it. I must say they did quite a good job revamping the whole game! "2" indeed brought about a lot of new things! Love the 3D twist of the game! In fact it is so alike with Harvest Moon series that I love so much! I can't stop playing with it.

In "2" you practically do the same thing as Farmville but with a little less stress! A little graphic tweak can actually makes so much of difference! So far so good! I am progressing my levels! Although it is a far cry from my Cafe World level yet I am progressing happily! I am now at level 10 though! The only problem you will face is the water issue! As water is the "energy" in the game! You will have to wait 5 minutes for water to refill itself.... Nonetheless it gives you time to get back to real life and get some things done instead of gluing to the screen of the computer all the time! "2" also brings about crafting - cooking and etc! You plant your own ingredients, harvest from various trees and collect wools, milks & eggs from your farm animals and turn them into interesting recipes like corn bread, yougurt, strawberry juice, lemonade and so on! It keeps you going for a while....  Here I am in my kitchen doing my little crafting while my cutie goat accompany outside! Oh yeah! Crafting requires energy as well! Crafting needs power while planting needs water! Simple for a tee-too like me!

You get to do a lot of stuff like visit your neighbors and get extra power and water from them! For now it requires very little help from your neighbors! I hope it stays that way as any Zynga game has proven, it requires a lot of people to help you in it! So it gets really boring when all the people in your friend's list are serious-dont-sent-me-any-game-request type! (Mine is that way so to speak!) But no worries I will continue playing and get it going for some time! For the mo' this is the game that got my attention ;)

OK! Signing off to play with my farm again! Here it is my little humble farm! Nothing fancy yet as I am still in a very low level and not much farm coins! So as time progress watch me turn it into a big farm... (Wait and see! Ha! Ha! I just remember I do not have architectural talent! LoL)

Bigger Than My Dreams

I wanted to say PRAISE GOD! With a heart filled with gratitude! As I am reading the book of Revelation - I realized just how great and awesome my Heavenly Father is yet He takes time to bless His child - ME! Being in business makes me held tightly to God like never before! It is a very unfamiliar, uncharted territory! Never been down this road so like a child I am following closely to my daddy in heaven!

I have always prayed - Dear Lord, please continue to bring customers from all over Malaysia & His answer is simply just marvelous! "Malaysia only my child? Too small a dream! Let's just say........... WORLDWIDE" (I can imagine His loving tone) Thank You Lord for your blessing! He never fail to prove to me when we hold on to Him and only Him, He gives and He blesses us with things our heart could never contain and couldn't think off! Over and abundant! Amen!

I was approached by my first overseas customer two weeks ago! He is from Germany! He wanted to buy not one bag BUT a lot of bags & a few wallets too! I am now waiting for his second payment as he in turn introduced me to his friends! I was a little worried about how to courier those items so far! Called up various courier companies as I wanted the most cost efficient one! DHL by far is the most expansive! I packed my items up in a box as light as possible and the weight : 1.25kgs! DHL offer me a price of MYR 522 (door to door) - the Customer Service personnel told me on the phone that it will be MYR 823 - I do not believe so I went to the psychical office to have them look through! Well MYR 522 is still that expansive though! The uncle in DHL even try to convience me that this is the best choice! He pulled out his files showing me people who courier CURRY POWDER to Italy! I mean Curry Powder that cost only MYR55 with the heavy courier fee of MYR 500! Sorry I am wiser than that! Doing business is all about cost efficiency! Even in life as well! What a wastage of money while three quarter of the world is in poverty rite!

Followed by UPS - MYR 459 (door to door) while Kangaroo & Sky-net & Nationwide with such names does not serve vicinity outside Malaysia - talking about naming yourself Sky-net & Nationwide while Kangaroo's slogan is "Your Worldwide Partner" Thank God at that time my sister is around, so the both of us rounded up the courier companies here in Johor and at the end thank God, Pos Malaysia is still the best option available.... I strongly think that despite the complaints that I read online! Well everything and everywhere there sure be someone who complains! Pos Malaysia offer me MYR 173 to sent the item through! I still make some extra from it! Thank God!

Once it was sent out with all the proper declaration done! I sigh with relieve BUT then it is always my way of doing business to check the tracking until it arrives at my customer's door! Suprisingly when the prayer goes up! Our worries come down! Papa said "He handle the rest!" The item arrived safely at my customer's door 5 days later! Amen! Wonderful! Praise be to God and by faith I claim "MORE TO COME PAPA"

Tracking it and arrived safely at customer's door! Amen! Praise be to God!

GROUPON - The Drama Continues

The more I see things are done in Groupon, the more disappointed I became! Check out how Groupon deal with the complaint I gave to them!!!

I gave up after looking at how they handled customers complaint! They don't lose anything because tonnes and tonnes of customers are still buying from them! I am just gobsmacken to see such a huge company - MNC so to say handle their customers complaints!

  1. As if I do not know where the FORWARD button is in my email, I need to write an email to them and they hence FORWARD the mail to the merchant!
  2. What is their action as GROUPON? At first they told me they will NOT be involved and that I should deal with the merchant myself! Now I get no respond & no apology from their MERCHANT and they are FORCED to handle my case and what do they do after a long phone call with me? They asked me to drop them an email in which they did nothing BUT forward the email to the merchant using the SAME EMAIL ADDRESS that I sent my complaints to, I thought you Groupon would have better contacts or even give your merchant a call!?! EMAIL! COME ON GUYS... YOU GOTTA BE KIDDING ME! I WAS A CUSTOMER SERVICE BEFORE in freight forwarding company AND I DO NOT HANDLE MY CUSTOMER COMPLAINTS THAT WAY!
  3. Its 2 days now and the merchant DON'T even bother to reply my complaint! Lets see what is the next drama that follows!
  4. If you read my complaint, you will know I did not asked for the item BUT I was questioning what are GROUPON actions to ensure quality towards the merchants they allowed on their weekly advertising? What are their assurance to their online customers?!  ANSWER: Groupon do not care about their customers! Wonder if they read the complaint even!! Do they check for quality merchant! NO!!!!!  And the language used is "PLEASE ANSWER TO THIS CUSTOMER" It is just another way of saying  the same thing they said to me on my first complaint to them : AFTER SALES SERVICE GROUPON NO PROVIDE! PLEASE GO AND CHASE FROM YOUR SELLER ONCE TRANSACTION IS ACTIVATED!  (I had refined the figure of speech!)

I do not wish people bad things BUT I certainly do not wished Groupon well in their business! I hope that people will wake up from their bargain hungry attitude and do the right thing! You might say "Choose the right merchant" "I always buy from Groupon and I do not have problem" "I only buy holiday destination & food services" and so on and so forth! The truth is if Groupon do not ensure their merchants are of quality it is like a time-bomb waiting to explode on anybody! If it not you this time it will be you the next! See ya!

I am Still ON THIS!!!

I guess I will continue to grunt until I receive my items! I have wrote another email to GROUPON and this time a rather nasty one! Yeap its 2 and half months now and I am yet to receive a proper explanation to why this is happening! They kept blaming it to the custom saying that the new rules implemented and the custom have to go through one by one of the items that came in to Malaysian shores!!  Here is my rebuttal to them:

I am a small online business person too! I import heavily from various countries overseas! Namely China, Taiwan, Hong Kong & U.S. To be honest my items are taxable items and I so happened to order during the RAYA week! I received my parcels 3 days after RAYA break's over! Pay my duty to the custom guys and declare my items accordingly. So why is your merchant blaming the custom? Do some justice for these guys! Not everything has to do with the guys in uniform! Do you ever bothered to check the genuineness of your merchants before letting them advertise??!!??

Well then I took the fancy of going to their Groupon Facebook Malaysia and I read so many who is in the same plight as me! Some even worst BUT some I find it funny! After one bad experience with Groupon they still buy from them again and again and again! What is the point of all this stress?!? Some even worst than mine case! Check this one below :

Poor guy got cheated! Why? Groupon never bothered to check the genuineness of their so called merchant!  For those who are looking for SanDisk SDHC on Groupon! Hold on your horses! I have read a lot of fall-out for this deal! Better go get your butts up and into digital malls across Malaysia! Bet you could get a better deal than their so claimed 60% off!

Maybe you shouldn't buy items from Groupon', as I buy holiday packages and services only! Like Hotel bookings, mani-pedi & food items! (OH SO YOU SAY?! Your turn will come!) Checked this complaints too before clicking purchase! There is no stopping to how things are done in GROUPON!
Looks like nobody can escape whether your product is cheap or expensive! I am getting tired of reading as it is quite amusing to read through the sorry state of people who took to trust on online purchases! Dear Groupon do not shake the trust of people who buy online as these are our customers! You are a BIG organization and can afford to lose millions! But we small time business person rely on these people's trust! Check the last complaint before I move on to something happier! Check the complaint from the lady number one! Seems like she bought the same item as MINE? But no worries! ROBOCOP is waiting for his item too! Anything we still have ROBOCOP maybe?!?

Lesson Learned....

One lesson I learned & will NOT forget - In the tone of Taylor Swift (in her song - We are never ever getting back together) "I am never ever ever ever going to buy one damn shit thing from Groupon! No matter how cheap it is" There! I got it out in one breath full!

My item is still on the way! A MYR49.00 iPhone set! That was claimed to have been discounted by 60% - well its all load of lies that I fall for! Market Price is just MYR41.00 and I bet they could get it cheaper inspite them operating online or getting in bulk! Ok! Price aside, should be focusing on the item delivery! In the rules and regulation the seller promise a within 3 weeks delivery and I am ok with it! Now what?!? Its been almost 2 months and I get emails after emails regarding the delay. At first it was due to the Raya break! Then the second delay was due to over-demand (You call 70 items sold an over demand?!?)  Then came the third email due to custom giving them problem! (Well I deal with custom as well! In fact my items are taxable items while theirs are duty free! - I do not see custom giving them any problem at all! Through my experience of importing items from various countries like Japan, China, Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong & USA - I get very minimum problems as the custom would only requires you to pay the certain taxable amount (if your items are taxable) if not usually the release will be immediate! So custom giving you problem?! What problem? Then came this morning delay item notice without any reason - my item will only be delivered end of this month! What? that will be freaking 2 and half months to get a MYR49.00 stuff?!?

I try writing to Groupon and the answer I get is "Once the deal is effective, chasing of goods or any inquiries should be between the buyer and seller! Groupon will not be involved in it" Well THANK YOU VERY MUCH! What is the use of using Groupon when you don't care whether the seller is authentic or not? What is the use of you when you didnt check properly whether they have the items and whether their inventory is available or not!!! BULLSHIT!

Trust me! I am very devastated & I guess I have to give up hoping.. They should be thankful they have customers like me who doesnt give a hoot! I have a customer last week! Pos Malaysia delay her item for 1 day and she start jumping at me accusing me of cheating her money and asked me to make a report to Pos Malaysia for "Barang Hilang" (The value of her things ?!  MYR30.00) Well tell you there are all kinds of people out there and people that sell on Groupon are majority "Shupid"

Cooking Program - Western vs Eastern

I love to cook and as much as that, I love to watch those cooking programs on the television! Off lately I got so inspired after watching this show and it makes me think about this!

Western Cooking Show vs. Eastern Cooking Show

  1. Western Cooking like Jamie Oliver or Martha Stewart and the list goes on is always that simple to follow! One thing I notice is that they are very casual! You end up getting really pumped up to cook after watching them, always thinking "Hey I can do that too" whereas for Chinese cooking show they are usually so dressy and the setting will always be at a studio instead of home based or simple kitchen, making us feel like we are just watching when we finished the whole 30 minutes cooking with who and who.
  2. Chinese cooking show always have all the up to date weighing machines, baking, stirring equipment and the list goes on, making me feel like I need to shop more than I need to cook after watching but for those "ang-mohs" cooking shows, I always end up wanting to cook more and show hubby something that I have learn from it.
  3. I love how simple the cutting the English cooking shows are! They don't mind about crude cutting of their potato or anything like that! We usually are never good cutters and my potatoes are cut this way and that way! Usually it is not so for the Chinese cooking series! Do you ever wonder how their potatoes, carrots and etc are all strip and cube in the same diameters? I wonder!
  4. Tasting! Don't we do tasting when we cook? Well I love how the English cook usually just dip their spoon into the pot and done! The food is tasted! So here we go.... Now you know why I always feel really motivated when I finish watching a series! Plus with the knowledge you get from watching cooking shows are priceless! You learn new tricks and I just love them! So here we are doing extra cooking with newly acquire knowledge.

Buying & Selling on GROUPON

Maybe I am not supposed to mention the company's name as it is an established corporation BUT this is just my opinion and they are all true! (Not made up or pretense!) I never give two hoots about Groupon and its deals! Eventhough their updates illegally find their way into my mail box everyday! I deliberately click delete as they come in with a glance or sometimes without! I always believed that there is no good thing, in cheap thing & Groupon has to go and prove to me it is TRUE!!

From a Buyer's Point of View :

  1. From my personal experience : There was this really good steamboat place we used to go before they discovered Groupon and its deals! The moment they started advertising on Groupon, the customers came in by truckload BUT the quality of their food and services dwindled by a 100%. To make up for the cheap price they are offering, the eat-all-you-can steamboat place cut their crabs, small lobsters prawn and white squid to name some! Their vegetables choices went down to a few cheap vegetables and the quality is just bad! We never went back ever since we "the normal price paying customers" were made to hear they got too many customers because a lot of donkeys from Groupon did not called up and make appointment before dropping in! "Do I care?!? Tell it to them!!! So Goodbye! We are not coming back"
  2. From my own experience : Well out of the blue, I am feeling smurfified and went online and bought the iPhone set for what they claimed to be cheap! I later found out that it was just overprice! But I consoled myself that at least I get to choose the color! Because if I were to buy it from the mall at MYR9 cheaper I get only white color!  Before I bought the deal, I asked the seller when can I received the item? He replied that once the deal end, delivery will commenced! The deal ends before Raya which is at 17th August 2012. I should have received my item already BUT little did I know there is clause that says "If we ran out of stock, it will take another 2 more weeks to get our stocks and therefore your item will arrive 2 weeks later!"(Well fine! I add on the Raya week as free! And now I am still waiting for my goods! I checked only 50 people bought the deal! Does that means you do not have enough stock?!?)
  3. From worldwide news : I wouldn't want to mention our well loved fast food chain! What happened when they advertised on Groupon? They learned their gravest lesson and set a head-start example to all fast food restaurants out there, to never ever ever spoilt their already established reputation by tarnishing them on Groupon!

From a Seller's Point of View:

  1. People who advertise in Groupon are basically cutting profit to 0% when they do so! Why sell when you are not making?!? It might be easier to get customers this way BUT by selling your items close to cost price or at cost price is NOT the way to get customers! In such a way you would have kill other sellers who are "just doing our business" the normal way!
  2. By selling at cheap cheap prices! One is actually doing a brand a big damage, including good brands! Last I checked when I was buying "my item" online! They are selling a TV at half price? Why would Samsung do that? (Ok maybe after losing its tele-communication patent law-suit to its competitor, they need to!)
  3. By selling on Groupon as well one's company reputation may take a big hit, as you gain too many customers too soon! Although one of the clauses in advertising in Groupon requires us, sellers to get an extra employee to run the errand BUT how many of us will do? With profit cut up to half or more, is there an allocated budget for another employee? Think about it?
  4. Groupon requires a certain stock level before you start advertising with them! For small business, the amount is quite overwhelming! What if the sales vouchers total up to less than the stock amount? We are forced to swallow the remaining inventory ourselves when the deal ends! It will ran the business to ground if this is the case!
  5. Plus keep in mind, deal hungry customers are all over the Internet! They will want the best of all quality and yet pay less so as a seller we couldn't actually satisfy that isnt it? So we are forced to shut most of the customers up and then what happened to our customers based? End up in nothing at all! Sad but true!
  6. The list goes on and one and I can think of them as we go... Just that now is dinner time so I shall stop!
Overall my verdict - Groupon?!? I still think the same "There is no good thing in cheap thing... And just like human! If they are cheap! They are not worth it! & If you pay peanut, you will certainly get MONKEYS!

Thank You!!

Introducing the all new Division

I am proud to introduce the new division to Glamorously Instyle. It is the Tupperware Hampers division. Has gotten my mom to take charge of the Tupperware despatching, that I have a little bit more time to get creative about what I should do next. Although business is fairly good! I have customers every single day now! Praise be to God! I would like to innovate and to add in more variety to this complex & competitive Internet Fashion world, with Zalora going all out to garner business with their big giveaways and advertising, we need to innovate and improvise!

So here we are - I'm proud to announce that Glamorously Instyle has a new division - Tupperware Hampers for all occasion. In fact I already done my first customer and these are the result of it... Raya Gift... I have always love arts and craft but turning them into business, like I always said is "God-Possible" Now all I need to do is to wait for my new laptop to come onboard and we are rolling the new advertisement out!

Anyone having company dinners, customers meet-up for festive seasons, birthday and anything that needed doorgifts can now contact me to get their quotation and further pictures.

I am also happy to announce that I will be branching out into "Wedding Favors" I am now in the midst of negotiating a good price with suppliers and then, that is also ready to go. My sis will join me as my part time sales person and meeting my customers! Well my mom always said that I have wasted 3 years of money studying Business Administration and getting a degree in it! But guess it wasn't wasted anymore although I do not remember half of the things I studied during my college-uni years! Well Anyway I am glad for the blessing that God has poured upon me and many open doors for my business! Like I always said with me it is impossible! But with God as my CEO, it is "God-possible" Amen!

All pack up and ready to go! Yay! First deal - DONE!

People

This has got to be the most interesting topic in itself. God is indeed creative when it comes to creating characters in people and also to see how far people can transform based on the basic characteristic that was instill in them since birth. Being in this business has made me see so many different types of people. Some makes me laugh, some makes me smile but there are also others who makes me angry and frustrate me by their selfish motives and attitude.

I encountered some funny characters, one of them is I call "can't trust people" type. They wanted to purchase something online BUT once they transfer the payment (even though their amount is just MYR55) they will keep checking in and asking time and again "when will they be getting their item" I have had this a few times BUT I realize that dealing with this people needs a lot patience and all I need to do is to make sure they are at ease, these people need the seller presence at all time.

There are also some that makes my stomach churned, they are called the "bargain hungry" type. Whatever prices that I put up, I have given great consideration to it and to ensure I have a profit margin and it is up to the market competitiveness YET this people (especially chinese auntie! Sorry to have said this) try to bargain with me pressing my price to as low as possible and if I couldn't do it, they abandon the item without any updates and then try again with some other products until they are satisfy! At the end they only purchase one Salt N Pepper holder from me worth MYR19. (Well positively better than nothing)

Then there is also those joy-askers / bidders type. I have encounter these more than any types of people add together. Maybe they think that doing trade through an Internet, they are somehow protected from any absurd reaction during any face to face transactions. I have people confirming and giving me their full details promising bank ins and it never happen. There are also those who agreed on buying and yet never get contacted! So many hope crushers! I am not some 'everyday-do-for-profit-sellers! That do not care about my customers and raise my price sky high! So I tend to get a little hurt from this kind of people BUT then like hubby always comforted me, just take it easy and do not let these things overwhelm me! Forgive these people and our life would be a lot easier! Well easy said than done when what I felt is hurt and not anger ;)

I know at times I tend to get ahead of myself, maybe because I put a lot of effort into it and would love to see it grow and flourish into something. There are a lot of things that I have learn from doing this business and I thank God for that, everything is immeasurable and it makes me a lot wiser than I could be! I thank God for his strength daily and I thank God for sending at least one customers each day to purchase Tupperware from me. I am glad to have His blessing and I do hope that sales with bags, wallets, accessories would be as good as well. Amen!

My God is More Than Enough

Jesus said in Matthew 17:20 "If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can move mountains and nothing is impossible for you" That is His promise to all of us who believes in Him! I believe! Yes! With all my heart! So many times He has proven my dreams to be too small and I believe in too little! I want to stand as a living testimony to dare everyone to believe in Him!

I started my little business as a hobby and of course deep down inside I wanted to do well, as I have said to myself I wanted to show to my hubby he had marry a great wife! & in order to be a Proverbs 31 wife, you not only must know how to cook and take care of the household but there is a part that says in verse 16 - "She considers a field and buys it, out of her earnings she plants a vineyard!" I used to read with distraught saying this is impossible to achieve especially sitting at home BUT yet I pray to God that I wanted to be that wife that is able to do all things through Christ who has given me strength! I have not yet achieve anything but I see my Heavenly Father is a fair God and He gives good things to His Children. When I do my business, getting everything into place, searching for suppliers and items to sell, setting up the website with my 'limited edition' HTML, getting advertisement and so on and so forth to kick start, I thought of it as a little hobby and I used to tell myself it is OK if I don't sell much! BUT God said "My child of little faith! Do you think I cannot do more than sell a little?!" He went and bring in buyers after buyers to purchase my items and I have been busy since!

I pray to God with gratitude flowing through my heart after sending out all 3 parcels today & I have one pending customer yet to make payment! This week alone I have sent out 4 parcels with so many items inside! Impossible?!? God-possible! Praise Him Hallelujah! I'm indeed humbled by the wonders of His majesty! One thing I know! I found all that I need in His unending Love! My Jesus is the more than enough God and He listens and sticks closer than a brother even when my faith is nothing more than a mustard seed! So everyone out there waiting for your breakthrough never stop believing and don't doubt because doubt shakes your relationship with God, He never leave you nor forsake you but when you doubt you struggle to break-free from His will and thats the moment you blame Him - Why He wasn't there! Keep holding on to Him because He brings about blessing greater than our small minds could conceive because He said in Christ all our promises are Yes & Amen!

The parcels that I sent out today!
Well Sabah & Sarawak! I don't know how to get them BUT
God knows them all! He sent them my way to Glamorously Instyle.
Amen!
Have a great weekend ahead!

My-wannabe-smart-QUOTE OF THE DAY #4

Facebook is for games and crappy pictures! If you are the "so-serious-as-though-you-got-some-world-saving-things-to-do-on-Facebook" type, please go and develop a website or start from the street! Why are you sitting on your fat ass and clicking here and clicking there on Facebook?!?

Lets CityVille....

Life has been good of late & there is no other words to say than "Thank You Jesus!" Amidst running errands for my business, I - of course have time to manage my games! Facebook has nothing for me except games and I am not bashful to confess that I am very high level in most of my games! (Nerd! LoL!)

My favorite has got to be hands down - Cafe World, been playing it for years and level is 500! (Bear in mind that is not high! I have a friend who is level 899 as of yesterday & hubby has got one that is level 530 - always some level ahead of me & hubby claimed that person is working! All I have to say is "Lucky she can still play Cafe World during working hours!") I do not have any second favorites for now! Cityville is a game that I share a love-hate relationship with! Currently at level 71 going to 72!   There are so many reasons to hate Cityville but yet I still ritually click in every morning to manage my plots of farm, fill in my malls and shops, sent cruise ships, welcome my air-customers & tourist, build whatever I fancy at that very morning and close!" Although I told my hubby that I have grown so fed up with that game but yet and still I up from one level to another and do the same thing every morning. Log in, click, click, post!

I take no credit in my nicely arrange city - Firefliez & Glowz (that is the name of my city! Another LoL!) My hubby is the one that helps me arrange them and put in plants along the way and create roads and connection, giving careful thoughts to what should be put in. If it is by me, (ha! ha!) you will see rows and rows of shops and houses all clamp together in one area BUT for hubby who has the gift of putting things into order, he develops the farm area at one corner, sea port on the lower part of the town, hotels in the middle with luxury shops surrounding it, zoo at far end, malls and marts in front of nicely arrange apartments and condos, airport with surrounding greens! As if, its not cute enough, he put a row of seafood shops facing the sea! (That's my hubby! Told you if me, all of this does not exist! I just kind of put it in when space permits!) Now i am building a space exploration center and been asking hubby (he is very very busy off late) to put them into the right place!

This is my junk corner where I just plonked all my wanna build building at the far end of the city.
Hubby will at his own leisure time (which he has none off late) arrange them
into my city! (That is the space exploration center BTW!)

Although it seems fun to play BUT like any other social games it has its weakness and I came to just ignore it! Firstly - it is endless request that you will have to get from friends! I am glad I have a band of friends that  plays constantly and I can still get some of the structures done! Just recently something got me really pissed it is that I can't seems to get the items requested and I am force to keep posting them on my Facebook wall! With so many requests and new things the land is just not enough to accommodate to the growing need of it! How do I build my world wonders if my posting for "Zoning Permits" did not come in???? Plus there are some "so-serious-as-though-they-got-some-world-saving-things-to-do-on-Facebook" type that has been complaining and complaining about too many games post! (Hello Facebook is for that! If you wanna save the world and make it a better place go somewhere else!)

Here is a good example of it! My post on the wall just don't come in!
In spite my hubby claimed that he had clicked them and I knew he did!

How do we get all this done if we don't receive any of the items posted on the wall?
The result : I never bother to do anyway! I just do the ones that I think is cute and will look
nice to my city! All this quests, they are unending and they requires tonnes of request!
If I cannot get six of each item above, imagine 25?? Shall wait till the cows come home!

After rambling for long! Here it is my humble city!
Not for profit but for fun! La! La! la! Its flourishing and I even have
KL twin tower at the far end right corner (~Winks~ After all I am a Malaysian)

After all, CityVille is still a very nice game to play if you do it for fun! No wonder I am ritually clicking in everyday to get it organized after all my hubby has made a very nice city out of it! And yeap! Gone are the clamp together unorganized city of Firefliez and Glowz! He! He! So nothing is perfect, ignore the quirks and you will have fun!
Something that I kind of proud of! My city's superhero....
People got Captain America, Hulk, Thor (LoL) and whatever
Firefliez & Glowz got "The Pigeon Man" (Lame! But cute!)
Eh! To get him I have to request endless biji of donuts to fuel my cops to catch at least 160 bandits! Each bandit needs at least average 4 donuts to catch
Do the math (4 donuts x 160 bandits = 640 biji donuts! Err that's alot!)
So here we go Mr. Pigeon Man guarding fireliez & glowz!
Ha! Ha! Happy Cityvilling folks!

European Experience - France

I know its been 4 months since my trip to Europe and now only I am writing about it! Oops I wasn't actually busy saving the world but just still savoring over how great God's creations are! Its just wonderful. I was having breakfast this morning, I came to think of all the places we've (my husband and I) been! Indeed just like mom used to say "This world is just too big for her little girl"

Used to think I know a little bit of everything but after stepping out, I realized I know nothing at all! In fact I believe that people who thinks and acts irrationally is because their world revolves around themselves and its very small! As a little girl everybody would have been exposed to the wonders of Eiffel, Champs-Elysees, The Louvre, Mona Lisa, Michelangelo, The Notre Dame and so on and so forth! I read of it, watched movies about it and wished someday I will live to see it! God is good! He always has been and will be! He made this little girl's dream came true! We arrived at Paris were welcomed by the Arc de Triomphe with French long elaborated history of Napolean and her over centuries of different kings!

Over expecting can be a little too dangerous!  I was expecting Eiffel to be wonderful and romantic and all the wonderful feeling that you could get from watching a movie like "Midnight in Paris" and so on BUT standing underneath the wonderful Eiffel, one can sense the historical meaning of it, the awe of that high tower that was build centuries ago but trust me all romantic feelings that you thought it would emit wasn't really so! Eiffel is pretty & yes I would tell everyone to visit it if you haven't BUT once you do, I guess you will want to visit some other places instead!

Our little Eiffel experience!

France is a very huge country! To travel from one place to another takes hours! Getting to Paris, the heart of France takes 8 hours drive from Djorn where we spend our night the day before! It was worth the long drive as Paris holds many of the world's landmark! Another place to be in awe of is The Louvre! You certainly is not in France if you haven't been there, touch the glass pyramid of it! It was indeed very beautiful and its full of tourists rich and eager BUT on the other side of it, the place is filled with beggars trying to stay alive wrapped under a dirty blanket! Not one or two but tens and twenties of them sleeping on the street! I used to say, France boast of their gold roofs and precious stone decorated walls BUT its such a shame to see its people huddle in the cold on the sidewalks trying to keep warm!

We were here! (In Beyonce's tone!)

Next off to the place that held the most "Hoo-hah" for me - The Notre Dame! Yes the place where The Hunchback of the Notre Dame cartoon was inspired and drawn! What was in the cartoon will not be able to hold half of the wonder this real building really is! When we approached I was filled with awesome wonder of how great and beautiful this whitewashed building that stand the test of time really is! One word can describe it "WONDERFUL" yet that word in bold still under-declare what it really is! The day we visited was Palm Sunday, so you could imagine the festivities around the great big church! It was just amazing! Every single carvings, every single statues and the meaning behind it was wonderful! How much meaning it held, one can only stand below with eyes wide open and smile!

"Ah-hah... Its wonderful isn't it. Every carvings, every cross on that little pointy roof,
all the main towers and even the three front doors with massive carvings
has its own symbolism and meaning!"

One can read of the long history in which I am not going to relate here in google! I still read it and feel I  have not taken enough of it in! After walking around Paris to visit all this wonderful area, we can wind down by visiting the wonderful shopping street of Champs-Elysees, home of everything beautiful, expansive and you can get all your green labels, blue labels, black labels and labels of all sort here! All big brands and names call this place HOME! And when the night falls YET still young, spend your night taking the Paris Hop-on, Hop-off bus to the famous club "Moulin Rouge!" Yes its being a Lady Marmalade time! Yay! Ha! Ha!

For those always wanting to see the world - France is indeed a good place to start if you do not know where to go! It is filled with all the wonders that you read in story books and movies so it is good to start there! The monuments and the buildings it hold is beautiful and great BUT do discount the people and the society as when you walked the street of France always look to the right and to the left as pick-pockets are prone to happen here! Be very careful when you cross the street as well because the drivers all F1! But France nonetheless has it share of rich and famous and Lamborghini is aplenty here! Ignore the stench and the places that you pass by and just filled your heart with nothing but expectation of a small little girl! Then France is truly an enjoyable place!

France wouldn't be fun without my boys "The around the world Care-bears"
