Happy Christmas! A week after Christmas, I now have time to sit down and write about it. This Christmas had been busy for me! Care-A-Lot Hotel has the opportunity to hold both our families under our roof! Yay!
Let me start of by saying Christmas nowadays is just a little overrated and taken out of contrast! It is both bittersweet to know people around the world are celebrating it but it is also sad to know that many who do, just didn't know why Christmas was celebrated in the first place! If you ask around you will get all kind of answers, for example, Christmas is about present, nicely decorated trees, lights, musics and worst still Reindeer and Santa Claus! No matter how adorable St. Nick is being portrayed I do not agree with him! I detest him as much as I detest people who uses the word Merry Xmas! Why Xmas?! The same reason as they celebrate Christmas for all the wrong reason! They X the Christ out of Christmas hence they get Xmas! So they could go on celebrating their habit of spending without any guilt! Celebrating Christmas without knowing the real reason is like celebrating our mom, sister, spouse or children birthday without having them around! Sort of like "Syok Sendiri"
For me I too could also easily get lost in the preparations as well! The making of cards, gift-tags, setting up the Christmas Tree, shopping for the perfect gifts for each person, getting the house ready for the arrival of my guests, sneaking out on my own to buy pressie for hubby or even preparing the menu for Christmas dinner and buying groceries can get overwhelming at times! I had to stop and remind myself the real reason for Christmas!
We had a great time during this Christmas and for me Christmas is about SERVING! The best way I can serve is to cook up a meal for my family! I prepared the list in advance as it is very difficult to cater to a bunch of people with very diverse eating preferences! My Father in law does not eat spicy food, my mom non fat and my auntie is a selected vegetarian! (as she eats seafood) So you could guess my headache when I prepare the menu so that I can have everybody in it! But for Christmas everyone compromised a little and here are some of the stuff I cooked up!
We had our fills and we even took turn to thank the Lord, I think this will be our Christmas tradition from this year onwards! (Yeap the thanksgiving) We had roast turkey with potatoes sides, portabello mushroom with asparagus stuffing, chowder, stir fried zucchini with red pepper & of course spaghetti in red & white sauce. I am happy to see everyone feeling extremely full and having a great time!
Here are some pictures of us goffying away!
