Time really flies, seems like it was just yesterday that hubby proposed and we started our planning together, with no experience whatsoever, we started. The help that we both know we need is professional advice and where we got it? We pay MYR 49.90 for the step by step from a book called "Wedding Malaysia" & "Signature Wedding" Magazine.
Thinking back there are so many questions mark in our head, we do not know, what we know now. The first thing that balls me out at that moment is.... Mom wanted a real Christian wedding, but where to get a Pastor to officiate and solemnize our wedding?? To get a Pastor we must both go through the pre-marriage counselling sessions and with just less than 5 months to spare, will there be a problem??
The best person to get this help is, of course my mom. She is an active church-goer, and therefore she voluntarily helped out and the first pastor that came to mind is actually Pastor Peter. But then due to some problems, Pastor Peter was unable to do it and he called just a few weeks after saying Yes to tell us that he couldn't perform the wedding for us. So we prayed about who to do the wedding and to tell the truth, this had me worrying a little.
Then my mom finally decided to call Pastor Lau and thank God, he agreed. Mom introduce us to him. Thinking back, it seems like just yesterday when we first step into Pastor's room and voice our intention to be married and to willingly undergo the counselling sessions that he will prepare for us. Still remembered we had so many questions in our little blue book to ask to him. The first question without a doubt will be "Can my mom give me away?" We were so anxious to ask him all the questions that was at hand, but pastor calmly told us "Don't worry, we can go through the questions gradually during our sessions together"
During the sessions with pastor, we were also given a set of questionnaires to answer, exercise and discussion that we are thankful to pastor for taking his time out to nourish and to teach us, even though he do not know us initially. After finishing we have learned so many things from him and we have gotten to know him as a friend. Like I wrote to him in my email, we would love to say like him 35 years later "We are married for 35 years" it is something to be proud of.
After all this time, we are now Mr. & Mrs. Wiser indeed and we would like to thank you Pastor Lau for your kindness and your faithfulness in teaching us God's way of marriage and for taking time out from your busy schedule to go through rehearsal and also solemnizing our marriage on 18th February 2012. Thank you.
